Purpose of the Award

JU has, over its distinguished history, shaped many minds that have gone on to leave their mark on the world. The DA-JU award is instituted to formally honour those alumni whose achievements reflect the values of excellence, integrity, and purpose that JU has always stood for — and who have carried the name of their alma mater with quiet pride and great distinction.

The award will be presented during the University's Annual Convocation. Each recipient receives a personalised plaque and a formal citation read at the ceremony. The award carries no financial component.

Categories of Recognition

Nominations are invited across five categories. A nominee may be considered under more than one category; however, separate nomination forms are required for each.

🎓 Academia & Research

Original contributions to scholarship through publications, discoveries, and research of national or international significance. Leadership in institution building.

🏢 Corporate Leadership

Exemplary leadership in industry, business, or the professions — organizational impact, strategic vision, and sustained performance.

🚀 Entrepreneurship

Building enterprises of scale, innovation, or social value — job creation, market impact, and measurable growth.

🌍 Public Life & Philanthropy

Distinguished service in governance, civil society, or humanitarian causes through policy influence and charitable impact.

🎨 Arts, Literature & Creative Expression

Enduring contribution to culture, the performing arts, literature, or creative endeavour — recognised nationally or internationally.

Eligibility

The award is open to any alumnus or alumna of JU who:

  • Has completed a degree programme (UG / PG / M.Phil / PhD) from Jadavpur University
  • Is living at the time the nomination is submitted
  • Has demonstrated sustained and significant achievements in one or more recognised categories
  • Is a person of impeccable integrity whose recognition will bring honour to the University
  • Is not in service at Jadavpur University at the time of nomination

Who Can Nominate

Any individual who is an alumnus/alumna of Jadavpur University (UG/PG/M.Phil/PhD) or a regular, permanent faculty member of the University at the time of nomination may submit a nomination.

⚠️ Self-nomination is not accepted.
Nominators must provide substantive documentation with demonstrable impact supporting the nominee's contribution.

All nominations and deliberations are strictly confidential.

Nomination Process

Review the full eligibility criteria and category scopes carefully before proceeding.

Gather the nominee's CV (max 4 A4 pages, PDF) and a recent photograph (JPG/PNG).

Complete the Form

Fill in all sections of the multi-step nomination form with accurate details.

Submit Online

Submit your nomination before the announced deadline for the cycle.

Evaluation

The committee reviews all nominations confidentially and announces the result.
