Jadavpur University proudly announces the recipients of the DA-JU Award, 2026 — alumni whose achievements reflect the values of excellence, integrity, and purpose that JU has always stood for.
Following a rigorous, confidential evaluation by the selection committee, the following alumni have been chosen to receive the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna (DA-JU) Award for 2026, across five categories of recognition.
Former professor in the Production Engineering Department of Jadavpur University. A Fellow of INAE, he is presently an INAE Distinguished Professor and CSIR Emeritus Scientist at MCKV Institute of Engineering.
Former professor, Dean (SA) and Deputy Director of IIT Kharagpur; served as Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University and Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani. A Fellow of INAE and NASI, he is presently Principal Advisor of the Heritage Group of Institutions.
Presently Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai, and former professor at IIT Kharagpur. A Fellow of INAE, NASI and IASc, and recipient of the David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award of IISE, USA.
KSIIDC Chair Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. A Fellow of INAE, NASI, IASc, ASME, and IOP UK, among other academies; recipient of the Swarnajayanti Fellowship and JC Bose Grant.
Former Executive Vice President & President of the Merck Manufacturing Division, USA. A pioneering Indian-American business leader and a Fortune 100 executive leader in the global biopharmaceutical sector.
Presently Professor of Practice at Ashoka University and Co-Director of the Ashoka Centre of Translation. Recipient of several awards for his literary works in translation, including the Crossword Translation Award, Muse India Translation Award, and Kalinga Literary Festival Book Award.
Chairman and Managing Director of Paharpur Cooling Towers. A renowned entrepreneur who steered the company from a small startup to a large enterprise with a global presence today.
Chairman and Managing Director of Megatherm Induction Limited. He steered the company from a small engineering enterprise into one of India's foremost firms in High-Frequency Induction Melting and Heating Technology, with a strong presence across many countries.
Presently President of the Global Jadavpur University Alumni Foundation (GJUAF). He served as President, CEO and owner of TRS Consultants Inc., USA, and as Senior VP of Hill International, Pittsburgh. Recipient of the Rotary Foundation District Service Award and Rotarian of the Year Award.
Senior Area Manager and Executive Assistant to the Chief Information Officer, part of the AI/Digital Leadership team at Tata Steel and the Tata Group. She leads LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives, empowering diversity and inclusion both within and outside her company.

JU has, over its distinguished history, shaped many minds that have gone on to leave their mark on the world. The DA-JU award is instituted to formally honour those alumni whose achievements reflect the values of excellence, integrity, and purpose that JU has always stood for — and who have carried the name of their alma mater with quiet pride and great distinction.
The award is presented during the University's Annual Convocation. Each recipient receives a personalised plaque and a formal citation read at the ceremony. The award carries no financial component.
Nominations are invited across five categories. A nominee may be considered under more than one category; however, separate nomination forms are required for each.
Original contributions to scholarship through publications, discoveries, and research of national or international significance. Leadership in institution building.
Exemplary leadership in industry, business, or the professions — organizational impact, strategic vision, and sustained performance.
Building enterprises of scale, innovation, or social value — job creation, market impact, and measurable growth.
Distinguished service in governance, civil society, or humanitarian causes through policy influence and charitable impact.
Enduring contribution to culture, the performing arts, literature, or creative endeavour — recognised nationally or internationally.
The award is open to any alumnus or alumna of JU who:
Any individual who is an alumnus/alumna of Jadavpur University (UG/PG/M.Phil/PhD) or a regular, permanent faculty member of the University at the time of nomination may submit a nomination.
All nominations and deliberations are strictly confidential.

Gather the nominee's CV (max 4 A4 pages, PDF) and a recent photograph (JPG/PNG).
Fill in all sections of the multi-step nomination form with accurate details.
Submit your nomination before the announced deadline for the cycle.
The committee reviews all nominations confidentially and announces the result.
The DA-JU Award, 2026 recipients will be formally honoured at the University's Annual Convocation.
